π¬ Live firmware simulation
same thresholds as the Arduino sketch
Three sliders, three ultrasonic sensors. The first is on the front of
the bin - move it under 25 cm and the lid opens. Sensors A and
B sit inside the bin on opposite diagonals; their readings
are averaged, so an uneven pile no longer fools the fill level. Set them
far apart to see the uneven-load flag appear. The state machine, the
fusion rule and the serial output are a direct port of
04_smart_dustbin_complete.ino.

π§ͺ Wokwi hardware simulation
runs the real compiled firmwareThe panel above is a JavaScript twin. This one runs the actual compiled ESP32 firmware on a simulated ESP32 with the real HC-SR04s, servo, LEDs and LCD - including Wi-Fi, so with cloud sync set up it reports into the live fleet as BIN-001. Paste your Wokwi project ID once and it is remembered in this browser.
No Wokwi project loaded yet.
Upload simulation/wokwi/diagram.json and
sketch.ino to wokwi.com, then paste the ID above.

ESP32 or Wokwi, reporting through the cloud
Flash arduino_code/05_esp32_wifi_version with a
secrets.h (copy secrets.example.h). The board signs in
to Firebase as its own device account, pushes its readings into the shared
fleet, and picks up the commands you send from this page. Because the
cloud sits in the middle, this works from anywhere - the dashboard and the
bin no longer have to be on the same Wi-Fi.
Same Wi-Fi, no cloud (direct IP)
The board also serves /api/status on the local network. Browsers
block a plain http:// request from an https:// page
(mixed content), so this only works when you open the dashboard over
http://localhost - run node server/server.js.
